A Brazos County polling location is being forced to close just days before the November 3 election.
College Heights Assembly of God, located at 4100 Old College Road in Bryan, will not be open for voting on Tuesday. The Elections Administration has been made aware by church officials that the air conditioning unit is broken and there is a possible loss of water.
The biggest issue is that this is an older building. While stand-alone air conditioning units could be used, there is a chance they would overload the electrical system when coupled with the amount of electricity used by the voting machines. Even though this is only a chance, County officials are not willing to risk a power outage while voters are actively casting ballots.
The nearest polling location to this is at:
- Legends Event Center (2533 Midtown Park Blvd., Bryan), which is 1.9 miles away.
A reminder that voters in Brazos County are not required to vote at specific locations. They are free to vote at any of the polling places throughout the County.
